Hawthrone, Valdez lead Vikings past Panthers
Adrian Valdez improved to 4-0 with his win against Hartnell
Isaac Hawthrone slugged a 1st-inning grand slam, giving West Valley all the runs they would need in a 9-2 win over Hartnell at Valhalla Tuesday. Hawthrone's big blast supported Viking starter Adrian Valdez, who shut out the Panthers, scattering four hits and striking out seven through six innings. Valdez improved to 4-0 with the win.
Hawthrone collected five RBI, while Eric Altmark went 2-for-3 with three runs, while Jordan Montez also finished 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI.
The Vikings (18-6, 4-0 Coast-South) travel to Salinas Thursday (3/20) to take on the Panthers (10-14, 1-3). First pitch is 2:30pm.
