West Valley fell behind 4-0 in the 2nd-inning of the first of two games against 14th-ranked Fresno City at Viking Field Saturday and WVC, to say the least, was not a happy bunch. The angry Vikings reacted with 11 runs and 17 hits - they had 19 total - the rest of the way to overwhelm the Rams for an 11-6 game-one win. West Valley (36-3, 11-2 Coast) rapped out 14 more hits, giving them 33 on the day, in a 9-2 win over the Rams (27-12, 13-2 Central Valley) in the nitecap.

A four-run WVC 2nd evened game one at 4-4. Andrea DeJesus doubled in Raylene Cruz and Makayla Villapando, followed by a Rylee Gomez two-run two-bagger that brought home DeJesus and Tyla Arbuckle. Gabriella Diotalevi made it 7-4 an inning later with a triple down the 1st base line that sent Cruz, Alexis Bojorquez-Nava and Villapando to the plate.

The Rams scored once in the 4th to creep back to 7-5, but a Villapando two-run homer to straight-away left and an RBI-double from Gomez extended the WVC lead to 10-5 after five. A DeJesus double scored Adriana Diotalevi to extend the WVC lead to 11-5 heading to the 7th. FCC added a run in the 7th for the final 11-6 score.

Gomez finished 4-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI, while Gabby Diotalevi had her best day as a Viking, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Arbuckle was 3-for-5, DeJesus 2-for-5 with three RBI, and Bojorquez-Nava and Cruz each had two hits. Villapando had the two-run homer, her 4th of 2025, and scored three runs. Amelia Sizemore moved to 7-2 in the circle, scattering four hits and striking out four in 5 2/3 innings of relief.

West Valley got things rolling a bit earlier in game two. After Arbuckle and DeJesus opened the Viking 1st with singles, Brianna Chambers Lee ripped a homer to left that made it 3-0.

The Rams put two on the board in the 2nd, but the Vikings answered with two of their own in the bottom of the inning. Marissa Rodriguez took the first pitch of the WVC 2nd over the left field fence to make it 4-2. Gomez ripped a double up the middle that brought home Alina Perez, who was on with a double. The game stayed 5-2 until the 6th.

Sadie Heming opened the 6th with a single, and Perez reached on an E1. DeJesus brought home Heming with a single and Gomez knocked in DeJesus for a 7-2 WVC lead. Chambers Lee then clubbed her second homer of the game, almost to the exact same place as her first, driving in DeJesus and extending the Viking advantage to 9-2. Reliever Anna Bean set the Rams down in order in the 7th to seal the deal.

Arbuckle, Chambers Lee, DeJesus and Adri Diotalevi each had two of WVC's 14 hits. Arbuckle stole her state-leading 43rd base of the year, and DeJesus drove in her 50th RBI of 2025, good for 3rd in the 3C2A. Alysia Elizarrey improved to 5-0 on the year with the win in the circle..

The Vikings close out the regular season and the Coast Tuesday (4/22) against San Jose City (32-6, 9-4). First pitch is 3:00pm.
